Rachel Ringhold is roused from her bed in the middle of the night and sent away from the orphanage, where she’d grown up and now works. Dazed and confused, she flees from an undisclosed danger. With a prayer in her heart, and little money in her satchel, she sets out to find Seb Jameson, the man who used to work for the orphanage as blacksmith and handyman, and who’d captured her heart as a youth.
Tired, dirty, and malnourished, Rachel finally reaches Leadville, Colorado and discovers Seb engaged to be married. Unaware of the turbulence in Seb and Myra’s relationship, Rachel enjoys her new life and grows to a fresh awareness of what Jesus Christ accomplished for her on the cross.
The danger suddenly catches up to her. Her renewed faith is shattered. All she’d ever wanted was for someone to love her and a home of her own, but now her dreams have been stripped from her.
Rachel wonders who can save her now, or if there s there anyone who would want to.

This novel pulls you in from the start and keeps you reading! Rachel Ringhold as the heroine captures your heart not only with her quiet dignity and faith, but also her spunk and strength. She’s a special breed of the western woman dotting the pages of our country’s history. We’re caught up in her shadow of danger from page one and unable to be comfortable until the end.
Rachel flees her orphanage home in the face of an undisclosed danger. Her journey from Missouri to Leadville, Colorado is hard, but she’s headed to the only person with whom she feels safe—Seb Jameson. Their friendship began when Seb had also lived at the orphanage and had been strengthened with years of letter writing. Rachel’s young heart was captured, unknown to Seb.
Seb thrills to see his dear friend, helps her settle into new life in Leadville, but fails to see her disappointment when he reveals his engagement. He also fails to see the turbulence in that engagement.
Young Rachel longs for nothing more than to be loved and to have a home and family of her own. She’s managing to accept God’s plans for a single life, when danger surfaces again, bringing those she loves into its snare and causing her to flee once more with all thoughts of happiness dashed.
You can’t help wanting to ‘shake sense’ into Seb, who is way too slow in realizing his heart’s desire, but you’ll warm to a surprise, happy ending which unravels the danger sending Rachel away.
Leach does a credible job of creating memorable characters with strong Christian faith as well as crafting an entertaining story. Get Shadow of Danger today.

Rachel has been an orphan all her life when danger threatens to steal any hope she has for a future. Tossed out of the only home she’s ever known, Rachel struggles with why God would allow this to happen, as she flees in fear.
Rachel is hanging on to her faith by a thread when she finds herself without money, food or strength to continue. Being rescued by her true love, Rachel finds herself an unwelcome guest of his hostile fiancé. Will she find rest and peace in Leadville, Colorado?
An enjoyable read this story is action packed. Ms. Leach has done a wonderful job of weaving God’s love and care into this story while showing how humans can make mistakes and misread situations. This exciting story will have you turning pages to see what happens to Rachel next. Well done Jeanne Marie Leach!

In the deepest hours of night, Rachel Ringhold finds herself on the run from an unknown danger. She must get away—peril follows close on her heal. After rugged traverse, she arrives in Leadville, Colorado hungry, thirsty, and exhausted, but filled with hope—straight into the arms of Seb Jameson.
But Seb’s intended, Myra, is none too happy about Rachel’s return to Seb’s life. Myra’s dreams of marriage are threatened with the arrival of Seb’s old friend, Rachel. Myra sets out to keep from losing her man. Meanwhile, Seb struggles to understand the new, but odd behavior from his beloved Myra.
Seb’s friendship with Rachel only draws him deeper into her world and closer to danger, which now threatens his life as well. With faith and hope, and through mysterious danger, these individuals find more than just answers.
I recommend this read for anyone wanting a heroine with a strong struggle and an even stronger heart—and a hero who realizes his heart’s true desire, but hopes he’s not too late. Find a warm spot in the sun and enjoy this book and its lovely characters. It will be time well spent.

I was so thrilled to get a copy of this book from my writing buddy, Jeanne Marie. Though I'm usually not a fan of westerns (and this book has a definitive "western" look to it), I was surprised! The story, for the most part, turned out to be a historical romance set in the old west. I was particularly intrigued by the locale (Leadville CO) since my critique partner Kathleen Y'Barbo just finished writing a book for Waterbrook set in that same town/era. I recognized some of the buildings, right down to the Opera House!
Shadow of Danger has a really interesting plotline, one I don't think I've ever come across before. I won't give away too many secrets, but it's full of twists and turns (and even reminded me a bit of a mystery near the end as the pieces were coming together). It was hard to imagine how things would work out, but they did! (Dontcha love Christian fiction?)
Congratulations to Jeanne Marie for writing this story. I'm so proud of her! If you're a fan of historical fiction, (particularly books set in Colorado), check this one out!
